Domestic Noises
Domestic Noises 2008 / solo and ensemble
Small iron goods, magnets, motors
first shown 2008 at Gallery B312, Montreal,
for the project BRUIT ET SILENCE - noise and silence.
Small metal households goods move on trays. They follow more or less a circle line.
Underneath the trays magnets are turning, attached to motors.
Along with these processes comes a variety of noises, which are projected with speakers into the room. The different speeds of the magnets and the shape of the objects define the colour of the sound: Grinding, ticking.
From the simple circle line of the magnets emerges an individual pattern of motion. A succession of unexpected reactions shows up. The magnetic force overwhelms the equilibrium. The particles balance in strange positions. The all over is reminding a miniature circus.
